The Holotropic Breathwork Community

Supporting healing and transformation

Hi everyone,
I have just joined this community after hearing about holotropic breathwork from a friend in czech.
I am really interested in this and would like to know how I can start it on my own ,cos I have not come across any practitioners near my area.
Thanks

Hi Anila

I'm glad that you are so interested in HB.

Unfortunately, it is not considered a good idea to try Holotropic Breathwork on your own. Having a trained facilitator with you is important both for your safety and so that you fully benefit from the experience.

It's possible that there are facilitators in India who are not yet listed on our database. You could email Grof Transpersonal Training to find out: gtt@holotropic.com.

If you can't find an HB facilitator near you, it's possible that some people on this site could recommend similar kinds of work for you.

It is certainly our goal to ensure that anyone who wants to try HB, and is able for it, can do so. Clearly we are not there yet.

I hope that, in the meantime, this site can be of some help to you.

Warm regards,

Marty

Hi,

I am new to HB as well, and I would like to know how much a session with a facilitator costs.
I am a college student so I don't have a lot of income. I live in Tampa, FL. If anyone could help
me with some hints or information, I would be very grateful. Thanks.

Hello,

recently I tried some alpha mind meditation.
I downloaded this piece of music which is composed of alpha waves or something like tht .It played for about 30 min and put me in a trance and it was very very relaxing.
I know its off topic...but I thought I would just share it.
Thanks

Hi Justin

Thanks for asking ...

There is no standard price for HB. Each facilitator can charge what s/he wishes. But most will make some arrangement regarding price if necessary. So it's good to ask a facilitator what s/he can offer you. Some facilitator also offer discounts to people who agree to help out (e.g. on clean-up, set-ut, etc.)

A couple things to bear in mind:

Although it's great to experience HB in a residential setting, that really increases the price, as you would be paying for food and accommodation, so it might be cheaper to do a one-day workshop. Also, I think of HB as a technique that gives great bang for your buck, so to speak. In other words, many people have an experience in one workshop that gives them plenty of material to work with and integrate for months to come.

To find a facilitator, use our search function, go to the tab ABOUT HB (on top of each page) and then go to "Find Facil." Or just follow this link . If you don't find a facilitator this way, please ask again.

Warm regards,

Marty

Hi Marty,
I tried finding a facilitator in India but found none.
Does that mean I would be deprived of this experience?

Best Regards,
Anila

Hi Anila.

I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, I can't recommend any way that you can do HB without a facilitator.

I will put the word out, however, as best I can, to see if there are any HB facilitators in India who are not on our list, or if there are any faclitators of work similar to HB. I will let you know if I find anyone.

HB does claim yoga and shamanism as two of its sources, so these might be practices to try, if you are drawn to them, in the meantime.

Regards, Marty

Thanks for your help Marty,I greatly appreciate it.
I have started meditating and have learnt a technique that opens the third eye.
But I am still interested in experiencing Holotropic Breathwork and if possible, learn it and become a facilitator in India.
I feel it would be greatly appreciated here.

Thanks & Regards,
Anila

Great. After your first HB workshop, you can join the Sharing Circle on this site, if you want to chat (in relative privacy) with others about your experience. You can also post your mandalas to the gallery, too. Be well, Marty.

I'm a beginner as well and I'm looking for a practitioner in Chicago. I've checked a number of holotropic websites, but the teachers listed are either outdated (no longer practice) or are too far out of the Chicago area. Any referrals or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, Nate,
I have two sisters in Chicago area. I recently did a new check on breathwork activity in Chicago-land. The one HB certified fellow is no longer offering HB's. There are, best of my knowledger, two Integrative Breathwork people. One active in North Shore area. If interested, I can share with you my findings.

Hi Brad - thanks for touching base. I would be greatly interested in contacting the individuals you know. I work in Chicago and live in the near north/north shore suburbs so it could potentially be a good fit.

Thank you!

Nate
