Profile Information

What is your interest in Holotropic Breathwork? (This will be shown on your public profile.)
As a tool for self-exploration and consciousness evolution.
How has the practice of breathwork affected your life and work? ( This will be shown on your public profile.)
HB has transformed my life. The method and the community around it provided, and continue to provide, a safe container for me to go deeply enough into my processes to come out on the other side, to continue to change and grow and die and be born and die again and be born again and to love it all. Thanks to all of you in this community for being with us here. Deep bow of gratitude, first to Stan and Christina Grof for bringing this set and setting and approach into the world, and second to all of you who are fellow travelers and co-conspirators in this great adventure. Ho!

Breathwork and Community

(An earlier version of this post was published in the AHBI Inner Door journal, in August, 1999 and included in the volume Exploring Holotropic Breathwork).

In almost all spiritual traditions participation in a spiritual community is considered indispensable for the progress of the individual. Those who participate in breathwork as a part of their spiritual path are often members of spiritual groups of various traditions. They may receive “community support” from the groups to which they… Continue

Holotropic Breathwork and Reconciliation Work

By reconciliation work I mean all kinds of "peace" work that aim not just to end or reduce conflict but actually to heal and bring together. The "Truth and Reconciliation" Commission in South Africa is a model for such work in the social and political realms.

Reconciliation Work for me means working in a skillful way even though we are in some state of painful separation - within ourselves, in our families, in our relationships, between groups, or even between humans and other species or nature… Continue

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the welcome note! Also, I wanted to thank you again for a most rewarding three days spent at your lovely home for the Holotropic Seminar last weekend. The seminar was a truly rewarding and wonderful experience for me, the people there were all such warm hearted, honest, lovely individuals, and you and Petra have truly outdone yourselves in creating such a wonderful place of love, acceptance, peace, and tranquility in your home. I really felt lonely, sad and meloncholy leaving on Sunday afternoon (the grey skies, rain, and the fact that I drove on to Zuerich and have had to spend this whole week without my family here certainly added to my sadness) but I quickly got over it by recalling the warm feelings of love I felt in your home. I am really looking forward to returning!

Lots of love,

Mike

Hi Ken,
Thanks for the welcome. Synchronistically, the retreat/workshop at Omega will be during my return home to the New York area in October, so I've signed up and am greatly looking forward to getting a true "first taste." (my solo experiments have been rather like trying to taste a drawing of a cake . . .).
Happy Travels in the Superconscious,
Doug

Ken,
I am a long time getting back to you and a lot has happened in the meantime. The spiritual emergency project that I mentioned to you six months ago has been very active in the meantime. Some indication of our work is on our group web site www.renew-ireland.com. The group is addressing human distress in a wider context than what might be defined as spiritual emergency. People within the group have had psychiatric diagnoses of schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, depression, etc. but we prefer both the concept and language that describes all these conditions as overwhelm (or overwhelming distress) and sees the process as one of psycho-spiritual renewal. (Our theoretical core comes from Grof, Perry and Mosher, and our membership comprises "experts by experience".It is a "work-in-progress" with a group of a half dozen activist members and a broader membership of about 20. We are developing links with Crazy Diamond in the UK (www.crazydiamond.org) and EleMental in the UK and Denmark. I would be very interested in any suggestions you might have as to how we might bring discussion, networking and support through the HB forum.
Peace,
Doug Ross

Hello Ken,
I am Nathalia, Indonesian girl, nice to have you here as a friend. I am taking my master degree in Developmental and Education Psychology now in China, and going to give a presentation about Holotropic Breathwork as an assignment on Tuesday. I've never heard about it before, and there is no related article in Chinese, so this website help me a lot to accomplish this assignment. It's rather hard for me to deeply understand the Holotropic Breathwork, but i am interesting in it. Mandala is amazing! Do you have some holo musics, Ken? if you have, please send me one, ok? And please let me know if there is a holotropic facilitator or training program in China. Thank you in advanced.

Warmest regards,
Nathalia

Thanks for your kind words Ken. I wasn't sure whether some of the content or amount of the material was appropriate, and want to be sensitive to the community, so I appreciate your comment. If there is ever a problem, please do let me know.

I opted for the "unabridged version" given the movement that is evident over those 18 years. I offer this is an inspiration, and wish others the same healing and wholeness I've found through this amazing work.

Thank you so much for your part in developing this remarkable resource for the HB community. It is bringing a sense of cohesion many of us have been seeking for years. Much gratitude!

Hello Ken!

Thank you very much for a warm welcome and encouragement :) yes, there is a lot I would love to share with holotropic community, as I believe that I will learn some very important things from all of you. I am currently doing a diploma in general e-learning, so for me this is a trip into pedagogy :) As soon as I am done with supporting Rosmarie Weibel's (my teacher of Tao) visit and courses in Poland, I will turn here to do my best.

Warm thanks again and all the Best to you :)
Roman
