Profile Information

What is your interest in Holotropic Breathwork? (This will be shown on your public profile.)
I am a clinical psychologist. Since I work from a holistic approach, I am interested in non ordinary states of consciousness and the experiences and information that can be accessed in those states.
Tell the other community members something about yourself. (You can change or expand this later in your Profile.)
I am a clinical psychologist. For the past 9 years I have been working with individuals who suffer with chronic pain, medical illness and mood disturbances. I have been integrating body centered practices into my work. These include somatic resourcing, Focusing, Mindfulness and breathwork (non holotropic.) I also have been on my own spiritual and emotional journey due to a life threatening illness. I have survived and found the breathwork to be healing and transformational. The information, experiences and images I connected to were absolutely amazing. Life seems so much fuller and deeper knowing and feeling that connection to something beyond my ego body.
How has the practice of breathwork affected your life and work? ( This will be shown on your public profile.)
I have done five breahwork session. Each experience allowed me to access information and experiences I was not able to connect to in a conscious state. The last session was in the context of a workshop with Jack Kornfield and Stan Grof in October 2009. In that session, I experiences my own death and birth. It was quite extraordinary. I find that since I have returned home, I feel that I would like to stay connected with the breathwork community. The holotropic breathwork has allowed me to access my inner world which, for me, is far more interesting and vast than ordinary consciousness.

Hi Laurane,
No it has been many years since I did any workshops in the NYC area. I have done some workshops in NY and in Maryland but the bulk of my work has been in the mid-west, southern, and western US.
Is that where you live?
James
