Douglas Coombs Corrections

I am trying to make a number of corrections in my life. As someone who never felt good enough, I thought if I strived hard enough I would be good enough for my culture. What a waste of time to define myself by others. It sounds obvious, but I am now just starting to get it. I will never be a strong, silent, macho type, making myself a priority at the cost of others, but I sure made a lot of mistakes trying to look like that kind of person. I am thin-skinned, overly-sensitive, nurturing, non-conf… Continue

Alysson (Allison) Troffer My Natural Next Step on the Path

Two weeks ago, I started meditating for an hour most mornings. My evening meditation practice had waned in recent weeks due to illness, and I was feeling very agitated from stress at work and from dealing with a failed real estate investment. I needed to find my center and knew that meditating in the morning would help me get there. After meditating that first morning, I did an exercise in the book, Creating Money: Attracting Abundance. The purpose of the exercise was to find a symbol to… Continue

John Ablett Animation and Integration: Part 2

After many months of work, this blog shows what has finally become of the unfinished animation referrred to in the previous post. Most of those months were spent simplifying and pairing it down to the essentials. It seems to me that the archetypes unfold and release their energies in life slowly, so… Continue

Jimmy Eyerman Short Session

It is possible to do short sessions with experienced breathers as part of regular psychotherapy sessions. Did one last night...took 70 minutes and pt was "overcome" by turiya which turned out to give her great confidence in her own inner resources and healing power. Continue

Renn Butler Call it Holotropic Astrology or Archetypal Astrology?

I'm thinking of starting an astrology group here and calling it either Holotropic Astrology or Archetypal Astrology. Does anyone have an opinion about which name would be better? Continue

Renn Butler Oliver, Ken, Martin

I'm thinking of starting the Holotropic Astrology group this weekend (when the Moon in Leo will be aligning with the incredibly fertile Mars-Jupiter-Sun-Neptune conjunction). Continue

Alysson (Allison) Troffer No Boot This Time

As Ken Sloan recently wrote to me in email, “we really are in a collective death/rebirth right now, at so many levels, including the very personal.” Last week, over 100,000 people in the Unites States got laid off from their jobs. That’s both a stark example of a collective death/rebirth, as well as 100,000 very personal deaths and rebirths. The week before these massive layoffs, the company where I work laid off 1,300 employees. I wasn’t one of them, which I must say I’m grateful for, given cu… Continue

Anne Høivik Community, Language and Identity.

The Mandala-Gallery is great! This morning, 1st of February 2009, I was sitting for a long time in front of my PC, just letting the different paintings and drawings flow like a river of experiences. AHBI has made a completely new way of communicating through this web-site for HB –work! Congratulations! Building community mainly comes from sharing something important together – in this case – holotropic experiences through NOSC. In a rapidly changing world where we no longer can expect that anyt… Continue

Ken Sloan Breathwork and Community

(An earlier version of this post was published in the AHBI Inner Door journal, in August, 1999 and included in the volume Exploring Holotropic Breathwork). In almost all spiritual traditions participation in a spiritual community is considered indispensable for the progress of the individual. Those who participate in breathwork as a part of their spiritual path are often members of spiritual groups of various traditions. They may receive “community support” from the groups to which they… Continue

Mark Seelig Leaving the AHBI Board

My dear friends at AHBI, The time has come to take a step which I have been resisting for quite a long time: I have to face the fact that the reality of my life with all the music and travel, clinic work and little remaining private time keeps me from directly serving AHBI as a Board member any longer in a reasonable manner. As the German people say, I leave "with a laughing and a crying eye". 'Crying', because AHBI and Holotropic Breathwork continue to be one of the major heart affairs in my… Continue

Renn Butler Mars-Saturn-Uranus T-square for the rest of December

There is a very difficult and challenging alignment of planets in the sky this month. It began the last week of November with a Sun-Mercury-Mars triple conjunction. The close activation of these archetypes, among other things, often coincides with loud, heated, aggressive opinions aimed outward. Normally just a lot of hot air, these sharp energies become much more consequential this month as they are in a T-square alignment with Saturn and Uranus. Essentially this is the issues of the 2008-2010… Continue

Robert Eccel Healing

I just come back from a family constellation in Germany and this work in a way is similar to holotropic breathwork, but on another level, and there was so much healing of old, ancient wounds, which was a big bless for me. So I feel very peaceful and quite. There is nothing to do, everything is already here or there. OM Shanti Continue

Alysson (Allison) Troffer Is the Boot Coming?

Ten days ago, the company where I work as a technical editor announced that a big layoff is coming. Somewhere between 5,000 to 6,000 people will lose their jobs; that’s almost one in five employees. The layoff will hit all company locations across the globe, starting in the United States in January. I knew another layoff was coming. In the past six or seven years, in good economic times, my company has done almost yearly layoffs. In this troubled economy, many of our customers, which include la… Continue
